Resume and professional informationUsability samples - Messaging Security ProductI worked on a messaging security product for scanning email for viruses and content while employed at Trend Micro. This product was redesigned from a single-point to provide a distributed system that could be centrally managed using a Web console. I was deeply involved in both the system and interface design, and was known to members of the development team as the "secret architect" due to my knowledge of the system and its design
This is the summary screen. It is designed to give the user an overview of the product's status and health.
This screen shows the aggregated messaging policy for the product. The design incorporated automatic ordering of policies to reduce the burden of security management. This feature was probably the most well-recieved. Users were very excited that the design eliminated the need for them to manually determine the order of policy execution. Since this is a peripherial task, we met the user goal by automating it.
This screen allows users to enter the source for product updates. Separating the update source (rarely or never changed) from the update schedule, which might be more frequently changed, allows users to easily distinguish the different controls for the two tasks.
This screen is the Log Query screen. This tool allows users to search through the system logs to find events related to different system components. This feature was also very well received by customers who were used to grepping the log files. |
